Campo Velo Hiko -- Lassen biking

Bizz Johnson Ride

The trail is named after Harold T. "Bizz" Johnson who served in the U.S. Congress from 1958 to 1980. He was instrumental in establishing this rails-to-trails project connecting Susanville to Westwood, a distance of 26 miles, on the abandoned Fernley and Lassen Railroad line. This hard-packed gravel trail winds along the Susan River, through two tunnels and over numerous bridge crossings.

East end of the trail is located in downtown Susanville At the trailhead -- L-R, Herb, Dick, Geno, Ralph and Jay

Two major tunnels on the trail. Going from bright light to sudden darkness can cause disorientation. Geno had an out-of-body experience and went careening off the tunnel walls. His body and bike were OK.

Indian Valley Ride

We rode half of the Indian Valley Century ride, doing a big figure 8 loop from Greenville to Genesee. This very pleasant route took us around the perimeter of two picturesque valleys full of hayfields, cattle ranches, and numerous vintage barns. The only traffic were a few pickup trucks pulling horse trailers.
